WEST MONKTON PARISH COUNCIL
for meeting on 12th August 2009
Planning applications registered at TDBC
4/08/09/0017 Mr Bob Mills SCC, Change of use of part of restored landfill site to public open space and nature conservation including the erection of a pedestrian bridge, fences and secure gate, interpretation boards and construction of pond and drainage channels at former Priorswood Landfill site, Crown Industrial Estate.
4/08/09/0018 Mr Bob Mills SCC, Extension of existing materials recycling facility (MRF) erection of new buildings and the change of use of part of former landfill site for the purposes of developing an integrated waste management, treatment and recycling facility including an MRF and vehicle maintenance building, hazardous waste station, lorry and car parking areas, soil screen bunds and regularisation of existing depot area, at Priorswood Household Waste Recycling Centre and depot.
Comment for both the above: the Parish Council fully supports these applications, they demonstrate a responsibe attitude to the discharge of duty and they are in keeping with the TD Local Plan.
48/09/0027 Miss K Purchase Erection of a single storey extension to the rear and side to include conservatory and porch to front at Little Oaks, 16 Sylvan Way, Monkton Heathfield. Likely issues: there is a great deal of extension proposed to this property. Need to carefully assess the impact of these extensions on the character and appearance of the property and consequent impact on the street scene. Comment: In the view of the Parish Council the street scene will remain unchanged because much of the extension will be at the rear, and the side extension will be obscured by the garage. There are no properties to the rear. The property is a modern bungalow in a small cul-de-sac and the proposal is for a modern extension. Appropriate materials should be used. The design sympathetically uses the topography of the site enabling the conservatory to be kept to a low level. The extension is proposed to accommodate the needs of a family with young children who enjoy a sustainable walk to school from this location.
48/09/0029/T Application to fell one walnut tree included in Taunton Deane Borough (West Monkton no. 3) Tree Preservation Order 1998 at 64 Acacia Gardens Bathpool (TD777). The application will be assessed on site. The Parish Council appreciate that the location of this walnut tree on the edge of the canal will cause problems in the future. They would prefer to see the replacement tree to be a British specie – preferably one producing edible fruit. The Parish Council supports the Tree Officer’s decision.
